Purchasing
Getting any kind of help at one of the "big box" stores - those that are left, anyway - can be a daunting experience. You have to wonder if the pimple-faced kid really knows anything about computers. And what about the Internet? Well, My PC Therapist is different. I take a personal interest in your computing needs, look at your entire environment, and recommend the right PC, peripherals, and networking solutions for you. I can even buy it for you - often at a substantial discount.
Setting up a new PC
Getting Windows up and running for the first time is not as easy as plugging it in and turning it on. Your new PC will come with loads of pre-installed "crap-ware" that should be removed. It will also come with "teaser" versions of Microsoft Office and a virus protection program. They'll run for 60 or 90 days and, just when you've gotten hooked, stop working. It's best to install the right software on day one. And the "right" software may not be McAfee or Norton/Symantec.
Home Networking
If you don't have a router, get one. It provides an extra layer of protection from the nasties on the Internet. Of course, a router also allows you to network multiple PCs within your home to share folders and printers. My PC Therapist will help you configure everything you need.
